The Varsity Lady Jackets continue their journey to a playoff appearance. Last night, the lady jackets used a unified attack and a relentless defense to defeat Compass Academy of Odessa 49-20. It is their total team defense that has allowed the Lady Jackets to remain in a playoff position. Team members include seniors - Sophie Garcia, Natalee Perez, Jessica Lara, Monika Leyva, Zenia Florez, and Frances Stallings, sophomores - Iris Lujan and Ebbin Mallory, and two freshmen - Leylani Quiroz and Michaela Cazarin. Tuesday January 17th, your Kermit Yellowjackets went on the road to face the Odessa Compass Cougars. The JV Maroon won 48 - 39, and leading the charge was Brayden Pando with 15 points and closely followed by Juliane Saenz with 12 points. In similar fashion the Varsity gets their second district win, defeating the Cougars 54 - 37. Jaden Bejarano and Zeke Espino led the Jackets with 10 points a piece, as well as a dominant effort on the glass from Jayden Norton, Nate Vela, and Yosmar Acevedo. Jacket Nation, On Friday and Saturday, January 13th-14th, Kermit K-Band senior Isaiah Urquidi represented KHS at the Region 6 High School All-Region Band Clinic and Concert! Isaiah placed high enough at All-Region auditions in December to earn a spot in the band. Hundreds of students from around our region compete for a very limited number of chairs. Students auditioning for All-Region not only compete with students from other 3A schools but with students from 1A through 4A schools. Congratulations to Isaiah on this high honor and accomplishment!
